Chloe Cherry is changing her tune about monogamy.
While appearing on Tuesday’s episode of Emily Ratajkowski’s High Low podcast with EmRata, the Euphoria star, 25, said she’s done having casual sex with men and that, these days, she’s open to getting into a monogamous relationship.
“I’ve never been monogamous before and I want to try it,” the porn star-turned-actress revealed. “Isn’t that funny?”
Although she acted in porn for many years, Cherry confirmed that she is done with that part of her career, telling Ratajkowski that she hopes to star in as many Hollywood films as possible. However, breaking into the dating pool after being in the adult film industry for so long is not easy.
“It’s the last thing I’ve ever tried, a monogamous relationship,” she explained. “I want to see how you feel. But it’s too much. It’s hard for me. It’s really crazy to walk away from a sex career because you’re used to casual sex and then, when you’re someone like me, who’s afraid to get involved with people, your life gets really confusing.”
Cherry explained that while she was “obsessed with sex” in her late teens, now that she’s older the idea of being ghosted by men after having casual sex with them terrifies her.
“It would just boggle my mind a lot,” she said. “I can’t handle it. I’d rather keep having sex with the same person I’ve been with for a long time than try to find someone new. [who] He probably wouldn’t be able to talk to me again.”
Although she admits her years in the porn industry may have led her to crave monogamy and stability later in life, Cherry still looks back on those days with zero regrets.
“I’m so glad I made a lot of money at 18 instead of giving up as a waitress,” she said. “I was convinced enough to do it rather than waste my life getting hit by a creepy 40-year-old. [male boss].”
The story continues
Now a successful actress with dreams of forging new paths for herself, Cherry is keen to tell her story in her own words – hoping to inspire other women who dream of breaking into the porn industry.
“I want to write a memoir about my pornographic career,” she told Ratajkowski. “I really want to share what it’s like to be [in the industry]. A big goal of mine is that 18-year-old girls in the future get into porn, so that their family and friends don’t react the way mine did. Because the way my family and friends reacted was extremely traumatizing.”
Cherry’s views on monogamous relationships are a fresh departure from recent months.
In an April interview on Bachelor alum Nick Viall’s podcast, The Viall Files, Cherry opened up about her preference for dating multiple people at once.
“At the moment I like to see a group of different people [at the same time]”I think that’s the best way to go out. I think the best way for me to be a good partner is to have other partners — not that they’re necessarily my partners, just other people in my life . Unless someone really tells me they want to be alone with me, I won’t do it.”
Although she admitted she didn’t know exactly what she wanted in a committed relationship, she said at the time that “dating a lot of people has been the best thing for me to figure out what I want and don’t want in a person other”.
