Activision Blizzard files motion to impound Albany union vote ballots

Blizzard Albany’s QA group is scheduled to have its unionization vote on Nov. 18, however Activision Blizzard has requested the National Labor Relations Board to postpone that tabulation.
The writer yesterday filed a motion to impound the ballots with the NLRB, saying the rely needs to be delayed till its attraction of an earlier NLRB ruling within the case could be heard.
Activision Blizzard filed its criticism together with the motion to confiscate the ballots.
The writer desires the NLRB to rethink a ruling that Blizzard’s Albany QA group could be an acceptable bargaining unit, rejecting Activision Blizzard’s assertion {that a} studio-wide unionization vote needs to be held.
Activision Blizzard is arguing that evaluate needs to be granted as a result of the ruling lacks precedent as “no [NLRB] choice addresses the right scope of a bargaining unit in a online game studio.”
In one other Activision Blizzard case, the NLRB in April dominated that Raven Software’s QA group certified as a bargaining unit regardless of the writer’s effort to maintain that vote studio-wide.
The Raven QA group voted to be a part of by a 19 to 3 rely.
Activision Blizzard’s motion within the Albany case says counting the votes and releasing the election outcomes earlier than the attraction is heard may prejudice the voting pool if the NLRB later agreed to let Blizzard Albany have a studio-wide vote on unionization .
“We deeply respect the right of our employees to choose whether to be represented by a union and to make an informed decision for themselves in a process where every voice is heard,” a spokesperson for the writer mentioned.
“Given the significant impact this decision could have on everyone on the Albany-based Diablo team and the close integration of our operations there, we strongly believe that each of the 107 eligible employees deserves to have their votes counted, not only 18 quality assurance. testers who are important employees but make up a small part of the team. We are pursuing an appeal to the NLRB regarding its proposed bargaining unit because companies as well as union organizers have the right to present their case.”
A consultant for CWA was not instantly out there for remark.
This will not be the one continuing that Activision Blizzard has earlier than the NLRB.
Last month, the NLRB discovered that Activision Blizzard retaliated in opposition to Raven Software QA workers for his or her push for unionization by elevating the minimal wage for all non-Raven QA employees throughout the group. Other features of that attraction are nonetheless pending.
