Texas Sports Writers Association sets all-state volleyball teams

The Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association recently released its all-state volleyball teams for the 2022 season.
In Class 6A, Tompkins and Alvin led the way with five selections each followed by The Woodlands’ four.
Tompkins’ Cindy Tchouangwa was one of three middle blockers named to the second team. Outside hitters Tendai Titley and Skylar Skrabanek, setter Presley Powell and libero Brooklynn Merrell earned honorable mention. Tompkins advanced to the state championship game. The Falcons fell to Dripping Springs in the finals in straight sets.
Alvin’s Ana Garza was one of three outside hitters and Wylie Singleton was one of three middle blockers named to the third team. Outside hitter Mackenzie Strban, setter Korrigan Wright and libero Cory Breaux earned honorable mention. Alvin advanced to the area round.
The Woodlands’ Molly Tuozzo was the lone libero named to the first team. Marjorie Johnson was one of three middle blockers named to the second team and Claire Dewine was the only setter named to the third team. Outside hitter Ella Lewis earned an honorable mention. The Woodlands, the District 13-6A co-champions, advanced to the state semifinals.
Cypress Ranch’s Bianna Muoneke was one of three outside hitters named to the first team after helping the Mustangs go perfect in District 16-6A.
Fort Bend Austin’s Adell Murray was one of three middle blockers named to the first team after contributing to the Bulldogs’ fourth-place finish in District 20-6A.
Atascocita added a second-team selection in middle blocker Ruthie Swain and a third-team selection in middle blocker Rheanna Dee-Jackson, with Travis outside hitter Ryan Williams and libero Kynzie Lilly and Pearland Dawson middle blocker Kennedy Jones who earned honorable mentions.
In 5A, Manvel had four selections and Lake Creek was next with three.
Lake Creek’s Lauren Vickery was the lone libero named to the third team and Payton Woods was one of three outside hitters named to the third team. Setter Lauren Greene earned an honorable mention. Lake Creek advanced to the state semifinals.
Manvel outside hitters Devyn Lewis and Lyric Jordan, setter Kennedy Massie and libero Bea Angeles earned honorable mention. Manvel, the undefeated District 18-5A champion, advanced to the regional semifinals.
Foster added an honorable mention selection in middle blocker Jackie Obyechi, with Berbers Hill middle blocker Avery Wilks also making the cut.
In 4A, Huffman-Hargrave led with four selections and Bellville and El Campo each had three selections.
Huffman-Hargrave’s McKenzie Anderson was one of three middle blockers named to the first team. Erin Drvenkar was the lone player named to the third team, and outside Brooke Guerrero and libero Addison Shannon earned honorable mentions. Huffman-Hargrave advanced to the state semifinals.
Bellville’s Sydney McKay was one of three outside hitters named to the first team and Carly Lange was the lone libero named to the first team. Abby Aschenbeck was the lone setter named to the second team. Bellville also advanced to the state semifinals.
El Campo outside hitters Adeline Hundl and Kate Bondugen and middle blocker Ella Rod earned honorable mention.
In 3A, Columbus’ Ally Tribe was one of three outside hitters named to the first team and Ember Mandola was one of three middle blockers named to the second team. Setter Sage Thomas and libero Carina Alonso earned honorable mentions. Columbus, the undefeated District 25-3A champion, advanced to the state semifinals.
East Bernard outside hitter Kellen Dorotik earned second-team honors after leading her team to the state semifinals.
Boling added an honorable mention pick in outside hitter Madison Malone.
