Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at these Houston parades and festivals. Times change. The 45th Original MLK Jr. Parade and Festival. downtown houston | Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 16 | FREE – The 45th edition of the Black Heritage Society’s original downtown parade will be led by Houston dignitaries, marching bands, floats, peace marches and more. The procession begins at Lamar and Smith streets, followed by the MLK Festival on the steps of City Hall. 10 am to 5 pm. Trading Card Game at the George R. Brown Convention Center | Saturday, January 21 and Sunday, January 22 – Trading Card Game Con (TCG-CON) is a convention that brings together trading card fans and collectors, with more than 100 vendors selling sports cards, Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi- Oh, card accessories and more. Single-day tickets start at $25. Saturday from 8 am to 8 pm; Sunday from 08:00 to 18:00.
