Both are surreal winners in their domain, having etched their names in the record books by winning several major championships. However, both have had their fair share of struggles, from which the duo have made remarkable comebacks. In Williams’ case, it was her appearance in the finals after the birth of her first child, Olympia, for which she was praised by Woods.

Tiger Woods praises ‘mother’ Serena Williams
After giving birth to daughter Olympia in September 2017, Williams gradually returned to the top. She hit the ground running, reaching the finals of the Wimbledon Championships 2018. However, she left London with a runner-up finish, but was determined to come back stronger at the final Grand Slam of the year, the 2018 US Open.

Her path to the US Open finals was not easy. She had to face her older sister, Venus Williams, in the third round of the tournament. Still, she reached her second consecutive Grand Slam final and was one win away from her first major win since motherhood.
The comeback was praised by fans and journalists around the world, including Williams’ old friend Tiger Woods. “Having a baby and having all the duties of a mother, and trying to come back and try to play at an elite level, and she’s doing it,” Woods said. “That’s, what, back to back [Grand Slam] the finals? However, defeat awaited Williams in her quest for another major championship, as she lost in the final. She retired earlier this year after losing in the third round of this year’s US Open. Woods, on the other hand, is making another comeback to golf since sustaining injuries in a car accident in February 2021.
