Russian Soldiers Filmed Threatening to Turn Weapons on Commanders in Ukraine
A group of Russian troops sent to Ukraine to fight for the Kremlin’s “new” territory are threatening to raise absolute hell on what they describe as pointless suicide missions – and they’ve made it clear they’re willing to return their weapons to their members. own team if necessary.
Draftees from Kaliningrad have already appealed directly to Russian President Vladimir Putin to complain about ancient weapons, lack of training and people dying “for nothing”. In a video released publicly earlier this week, they shamed senior military leaders for appearing to have no battlefield strategy and declaring that “this is no way to fight a war.”
Now, a video has been leaked that captures the aftermath of their complaints. In a five-minute clip published by the independent Ostorozhno newspaper Novosti, the men can be seen surrounding a commander sent from Kaliningrad and warning him that they will fight if they are not listened to.
“You can imprison us all! How old is it, 5, 7, 10? We don’t shoot!” a soldier yells as the commander tries but fails to convince them to obey orders and attack the Ukrainian positions.
The troops say they were never meant to be part of assault teams, but were instead assigned as members of the territorial defense. Kremlin-backed proxy troops fighting in occupied Donetsk, they say, send them on suicide missions while they themselves “run” or stay away from fire.
They shout that they’d rather go to jail than go on raid missions guaranteed to fail “who knows what.”
“Did you see that pool of blood here? That person was sent into the storm [Ukrainian positions]so he pulled the trigger, because he knew where he was going,” says one soldier. “You want suicide here?”
After the commander replies that they have presented a “weak” argument for disobeying orders, they warn that they will use force.
“No one is going into this storm. You can imprison us all. And if somebody tries to trick us and say that we’re not going to go there and then they throw us on the front line, it’s going to be bullshit, it’s not going to be forgiven, we’re just going to go head-to-head against them,” says the soldier.
“Honestly, we’re ready for this,” he says, asking the entire group, “Is everyone ready for this?”
“Yes Yes! All!” the group answers in unison.
“We are very angry after the death of our friends… we will walk, we will leave by taxi. Fight your dirty self!” says the apparent leader of the group.
He goes on to tell the commander that several other soldiers were “taken”, apparently after the conditions of the protest.
“They came at night. What is it? Is it 1939? NKVD? Black crows?” he said, referring to the Soviet secret police who rounded up “enemies” in nighttime raids.
This latest conscript uprising is just the latest of many as the Russian war machine finds itself running out of people to use as cannon fodder. And in a particularly ironic twist, more and more of the same young Russian citizens that Putin claimed he was trying to protect from outside forces with his full-scale occupation are now being sacrificed for his occupation’s sake. of Ukrainian land.
“Before, draftees from Donetsk and Luhansk were used as consumables, but now it’s the Russians,” military analyst Kirill Mikhailov told iStories about the growing conflict between Kremlin-backed troops in the occupied territories of Ukraine. “They cannot fight otherwise. Unless the approach changes radically, which I doubt, then Russian draftees will continue to die this way.”
